Why Use a Bank?

On CivSMP, death has a financial cost — you lose 10% of the money in your player account every time you die. That adds up fast on a LifeSteal server, where PvP is always on and dying is a regular part of the week.

Banks are the solution. Deposit your money to keep it safe, earn passive interest, and access loans when you need a cash boost.

Banks are physical locations. Look for bank buildings scattered throughout Aldoria and the Overworld — and watch your back on the way there, because a player walking to a bank is a player carrying cash.

Interest Rates

Money stored in the bank doesn't just sit there — it earns interest every 8 hours.

• Interest is only generated while you're online
• Your interest rate depends on your bank score
• The higher your bank score, the better your rate

This makes banking a smart long-term strategy: the more consistently you play and bank, the faster your savings grow.

Bank Loans

Need money fast? Banks offer loans that give you an instant cash injection.

Here's what you need to know before taking one:

• Loans raise your bank score, which increases your interest rate
• Loan repayments are automatically deducted from your bank account
• If your bank account doesn't have enough, the payment comes from your player balance
• Managing loans and interest is a careful balancing act

Loans are best used for strategic investments — like buying a sponsored PlayerWarp slot or funding a big trading opportunity — not for day-to-day spending.

Guild Bank Accounts

Guilds have their own shared bank accounts, separate from individual player banks.

• Guild bank — funded by members via /guild deposit <amount>. Pays for group costs and unlocks the Bank achievement tier in /guilds. Only the Owner can withdraw.

Pooling funds is the best way to save for big group goals — re-gearing raided members, funding dungeon runs, sponsored warps, or cosmetic upgrades. Just remember that a shared bank is only as safe as the people you promote. See the Guilds guide.

• Deposit after big earnings — Don't walk around with a huge balance exposed to death
• Stay online to earn interest — Interest only accrues while you're active
• Be cautious with loans — High bank scores mean higher interest on your savings, but also higher repayments

• Keep the guild bank separate from personal savings — different access controls, different purposes
