ExcellentEnchants is a plugin we've added to CivSMP that introduces over 80 new enchantments alongside the vanilla ones — covering everything from quality-of-life tweaks like auto-replanting crops to game-changing combat enchants that summon lightning on hit.
The best part: they're fully integrated with vanilla. You get them from the same places you'd get any other enchantment — enchanting tables, villager trades, dungeon loot, fishing, and mob drops. No new menus to remember, no separate progression — just a much richer enchantment pool.
Custom enchantments appear naturally in every vanilla source you already use:
| Source | What you can find |
|---|---|
| 📚 Enchanting Table | Random rolls just like vanilla — higher bookshelf counts unlock higher tiers |
| 🧙 Villager Trades | Librarian villagers offer custom enchanted books in their trades |
| 🎣 Fishing | Fish up enchanted books with custom enchantments |
| 📦 Dungeon Loot | Find custom-enchanted items in chest loot |
| 🧟 Mob Equipment | Mobs occasionally spawn wearing custom-enchanted gear |
Use an anvil to combine or transfer enchantments, and a grindstone to remove them — works exactly like vanilla.
There are 80+ to discover, but here are the ones worth chasing first.
| Enchantment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Veinminer (III) | Mines an entire ore vein in one swing — perfect for diamond and ancient debris runs |
| Tunnel (III) | Mines a 1×2, 2×2, or 3×3 area at once. Massive time-saver for stripmining |
| Blast Mining (V) | Mines blocks with explosions. Loud, fast, dangerous |
| Telekinesis (I) | Sends all mined drops straight to your inventory — no more chasing dropped items |
| Smelter (V) | Auto-smelts ores as you mine them (iron, gold, copper come out as ingots) |
| Treefeller (I) | Cuts down an entire tree in one swing |
| Replanter (I) | Auto-replants crops as you harvest them with a hoe |
| Silk Spawner (I) | Chance to drop a working monster spawner when you mine one |
| Silk Chest (I) | Drops chests with all their contents intact — moving bases just got easier |
| Lucky Miner (III) | Extra XP from mined blocks |
Note: Tunnel, Veinminer, and Blast Mining are mutually exclusive — you can only have one on a pickaxe at a time. Pick the playstyle you want.
| Enchantment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Thunder (V) | Summons lightning on every hit with bonus damage. Loud and devastating |
| Vampire (III) | Steals health from your target on hit |
| Rage (II) | Grants Strength while you're actively in combat |
| Temper (V) | The lower your health, the more damage you deal — clutch weapon for risky fights |
| Decapitator (II) | Chance to drop your target's head (player or mob) |
| Cutter (III) | Damages and knocks armor pieces off your target |
| Ice Aspect (III) | Freezes and slows targets |
| Rocket (III) | Launches your target into the air |
| Wisdom (V) | Extra XP from killed mobs |
| Bane of Netherspawn (V) | Increased damage to Nether mobs |
| Village Defender (V) | Increased damage to Illagers (pillager raids become trivial) |
| Thrifty (III) | Mobs drop their spawn egg when killed |
By default, all bow enchantments work on crossbows too, which makes the ranged options way more flexible.
| Enchantment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Ender Bow (I) | Shoots ender pearls instead of arrows — instant teleport on hit |
| Ghast (I) | Shoots fireballs instead of arrows |
| Bomber (III) | Shoots primed TNT — wild for siege scenarios |
| Electrified Arrows (III) | Summons lightning where arrows land |
| Dragonfire Arrows (III) | Leaves dragon's-breath clouds on impact |
| Sniper (II) | Significantly faster projectile speed |
| Vampiric Arrows (III) | Restore health when your arrows hit |
| Hover (III) | Targets get Levitation — they float helplessly upward |
| Flare (I) | Places a torch wherever your arrow lands. Lighting up caves just got easier |
Ender Bow, Ghast, and Bomber are mutually exclusive — pick one playstyle per bow.
| Enchantment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Dragon Heart (V) | Passive Health Boost — extra hearts while equipped |
| Regrowth (IV) | Slowly regenerates hearts over time |
| Hardened (II) | Grants Resistance when you take damage |
| Fire Shield (IV) | Ignites attackers when you take damage |
| Ice Shield (III) | Freezes and slows attackers |
| Kamikadze (III) | Creates an explosion when you die — petty revenge for PvP losses |
| Flame Walker (II) | Walk on lava like Frost Walker does for water (mutually exclusive with Frost Walker) |
| Speed (II) | Permanent Speed effect from boots |
| Jumping (II) | Permanent Jump Boost from boots |
| Night Vision (I) | Permanent Night Vision from helmet — no more torch spam |
| Water Breathing (I) | Permanent Water Breathing from helmet |
| Saturation (II) | Helmet slowly restores hunger over time |
| Lightweight (I) | Safe to land on farmland, turtle eggs, and dripleaf without breaking them |
| Rebound (I) | Lets you bounce on the ground like a slime block (mutually exclusive with Feather Falling) |
| Enchantment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Auto Reel (I) | Automatically reels in your rod the moment a fish bites |
| Double Catch (III) | Catches twice as many items per cast |
| River Master (V) | Significantly longer casting distance |
| Survivalist (I) | Auto-cooks any raw fish you catch |
| Seasoned Angler (III) | More XP from fishing |
| Curse of Drowned (III) | Chance to fish up a Drowned. Yes, really |
These can go on basically anything.
| Enchantment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Soulbound (I) | Item won't drop when you die — the single most valuable enchantment in the pack. Mutually exclusive with Curse of Vanishing |
| Restore (III) | Item saves itself from breaking once when durability runs out |
| Curse of Breaking (III) | Item loses durability faster. Use it on something disposable |
| Curse of Mediocrity (III) | Strips enchantments off blocks/mobs you destroy — useful for cleansing builds |
| Curse of Misfortune (III) | Reduces drops to zero. The opposite of Fortune/Looting |
| Curse of Fragility (I) | Item can't be grindstoned or anviled. Permanent enchantments only |
Combining works exactly like vanilla via anvil:
Use a grindstone to remove unwanted enchantments — works the same way it does for vanilla enchantments.
We chose ExcellentEnchants specifically because it integrates cleanly with vanilla rather than overwriting it. No loot tables were modified, no vanilla enchantments removed, no grindfests required. Everything pulls from the same sources you already know, and the per-enchantment weights are tuned so rare enchantments (Veinminer, Thunder, Dragon Heart, Soulbound) feel earned when you finally get them.
Most interaction is just through anvils, enchanting tables, and the usual vanilla flow. But there's a browse-all menu:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/enchants | Open the in-game enchantments GUI to browse every available enchantment |
You can hover any custom-enchanted item to see a description tooltip explaining exactly what each enchantment does — no memorizing required.
ExcellentEnchants takes the part of Minecraft most players already love — enchanting a fresh set of gear and slowly upgrading it — and triples the depth of the system without taking anything away. Whether you're chasing the perfect mining setup, building a max-tier PvP kit, or just want a fishing rod that does the work for you, there's something new to look forward to.
