Welcome to CivSMP — Your First Steps

Welcome to CivSMP!

Whether you're a seasoned Minecraft veteran or completely new to multiplayer servers, this guide will get you up and running in no time. CivSMP is a LifeSteal survival server set in the world of Aldoria — a living world filled with NPCs, dungeons, guilds, factories, and a fully-featured economy, where every heart on your health bar can be won or lost.

How to Join

1. Open Minecraft and click Multiplayer
2. Click Add Server
3. Enter play.civsmp.net as the server address
4. Hit Done and double-click the server to join

Once you're in, you'll spawn in the world of Aldoria — the heart of the server where every journey begins.

First, Understand LifeSteal

Before you do anything else, know the rule that shapes the entire server:

• Kill a player → you take one of their hearts
• Die → you lose one of your hearts
• Reach 0 hearts → you're temporarily banned until a staff revive

PvP is always enabled, there is no land protection, and any base can be raided. Check your hearts with /hearts, and read the full LifeSteal Hearts guide before you get comfortable.

Your First 6 Steps

Step 1 — Teleport to the Overworld

Your survival journey begins in the Overworld. From spawn, jump into the magic pond to be teleported there. This is where you'll build your base, gather resources, and carve out your place in the world.

Step 2 — Gather Resources

Once you're out in the Overworld, start collecting the basics — wood, food, and ores. Everything counts when you're just starting out. Don't stray too far from spawn until you have a decent kit, and don't pick a fight until you have armour.

Step 3 — Build Somewhere Nobody Will Look

There are no land claims on CivSMP. Nothing protects your chests except how well you hid them.

Use /rtp to get far from spawn, then keep walking. Build underground, keep your lighting hidden, avoid round-number coordinates, and split your valuables across more than one stash.

Tip: A base nobody finds beats a fortress everybody can see. Read the Bases & Raiding guide before you commit to a location.

Step 4 — Set Your Home

Once you've found your base, save your location with /sethome. You can teleport back at any time with /home. You can have multiple homes — name them with /sethome <name> and view them all with /homes.

Careful with /tpa. Accepting a teleport request means accepting whatever's waiting on the other end. TPA killing and trap killing are both allowed here.

Step 5 — Choose Your Playstyle

What kind of player are you? Use /playstyles to choose a playstyle that matches how you want to play. Each playstyle grants unique stat boosts and 3 exclusive traits. You can switch playstyle after 7 days if you change your mind.

Step 6 — Claim Free Rewards

As a new player, make sure you grab your free rewards:

• /kits — Claim your starter kit with basic survival items
• /rewards — Claim hourly, daily, and weekly free rewards

Going solo on a LifeSteal server is hard. A guild gives you people to raid with, defend with, and share a bank with — plus a custom badge, a level system, and group achievements. See the Guilds guide for everything.

Couriers have no command. To haul goods for money, head to spawn and right-click the courier NPC. See the Couriers guide.
